StockApp - Quick Start

Starter Universe

This Starter Universe package allows you to populate StockApp with a complete stock universe and initial end of day price data (as of February 18, 2026).

What This Package Does

• Imports a stock universe (NYSE, NASDAQ, AMEX, OTCBB)
• Loads initial end of day price data
• Prepares StockApp for price and dividend updates

Step 1 — Unzip the File

Unzip Stocks.zip to a folder on your computer. You should see files like:

• NYSE_20260218.txt
• NASDAQ_20260218.txt
• AMEX_20260218.txt
• OTCBB_20260218.txt

Step 2 — Import the Stock Universe

1. Open StockApp
2. Click the Market Data tab
3. Set Data Service to:
   EODData MetaStock ASCII Format (Load From Disk)
4. Click Import Universe / Prices
   (Older versions may show “Load Prices From Disk”)
5. Highlight ALL unzipped exchange files
6. Click Select Files

Result: StockApp imports the stock universe and end of day prices.

Step 3 — Select Stocks to Track

1. Go to the Stocks tab
2. Select the symbols you wish to track
3. Add trades if desired

Important: API updates apply only to tracked symbols. StockApp does not download the entire universe via API.

Step 4 — Connect Price & Dividend Data

1. Go to the Market Data tab
2. Select your preferred data service:
   • AlphaVantage
   • MarketStack
   • Tiingo (if supported)
3. Click Edit and enter your API key
4. Select My Tracked Symbols
5. Click Download Prices and/or Download Dividends

Dividend updates currently require AlphaVantage or MarketStack.

Full Universe Updates

API downloads update tracked symbols only. To refresh the entire universe with new end of day price data, import updated EODData files again using Step 2.
